Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.

KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 30 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in primary health care.

About the Region

The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers about 421,000 square kilometres. The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is around 37,000. In addition to the sealed Route 1 which runs along the southern part of the area, the unsealed Gibb River Road runs through the heart of the region from Derby to the highway near Kununurra. Access to much of the region is by dirt road, air or sea.

About the Opportunity

KAMS now has an opportunity for a Finance Officer - Payroll AMS & Accounts to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Broome WA, on a full-time fixed term contract basis for 24 months. In this role, you will be responsible for the review, mentoring and relief processing of Payroll Duties for to member services as required by Service Level Agreements and being a finance all rounder for KAMS . 

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Assist member services with fortnightly payroll requirements as required, requirements will vary for each member service.
  • Review and checking of payroll data that has been input by member services.
  • Review and Monitor member services pay obligations are being met. ie. Salary Sacrifice payments, Dept of Housing, Child Support etc
  • Checking Termination Payouts, new employee setups, ARL airfare calculations and general review of payroll
  • Assist Set up new employee Superannuation Account with provider, Assist with lodgement of Single Touch Payroll to ATO

To be successful in this role, you will need good all round office experience with preferred experience in maintaining and updating the employee files data base and a genuine interest in accounts and finance with relevant experience (12 months) or relevant qualifications.

Whilst not essential but will be held in high regard, the successful candidate will have demonstrated a working knowledge of employer’s statutory obligations in fulfilling the payroll functions and basic knowledge of Industrial Awards and their interpretation.

Please note: It is a requirement that successful candidates hold a current drivers licence and be willing to undergo a National Police Check prior to employment with KAMS.

  • Annual airfares subsidy to the value of $1,285 p.a. (after 12 months of service);
  • District allowance of $2,920 (single) or $5,840(double);
  • Electricity allowance $1,440;
  • Accommodation allowance $7,800; and
  • 5 weeks leave p.a.
